About

Ratings
Generally a 5 is an average book in my scoring system. Anything under a 5 is probably not worth reading in my opinion. Obviously lots of factors go into a score, such as external life events, as well as narrator if it is an audiobook. A lot of stuff ends up around 7 since that is an "Averagely good" book. An important note is that I give books a score right after I finish reading them, and sometimes my feelings on a book change over time. That is why you will see in my book lists that my favorite books are not always ordered exactly by the score I give them. The longer I have done this, I have slowly become a slightly harsher grader, so books that I gave a good score a few years ago would most likely receive a lower score if I read it today.
Summaries
I started writing book summaries in the middle of 2025. The more I enjoy the book generally the more effort I will put into the summary. I am still trying to find a balance of how much detail to include. Some, like Ship of Magic, are very detailed but that makes them super long and take a lot of time to write.
Trivia
I love trivia but did not start writing down trivia questions about books until May of 2026. From now on I will try to get at least a couple for most books that I read.
Time
I started tracking what books I read in a document the summer of 2022, then in 2024 expanded to a spreadsheet so I could keep track of more information about each book. Anything from before 2022 is just based on my recall, and won't have specific dates associated with it. Obviously there are more books I read before I started keeping track of them, but I only added the ones I remembered and felt confident giving a score. I have been trying to reread a lot of series that I read when I was younger and see how they hold up. I first started tracking the days it took me to read books with Shadows of Self in September of 2022, so everything before that is mostly just a generic number of days filled in to normalize the data. I put them at about the right dates and just set everything for for 5 or 6 days, since that tends to be my average reading time for normal length books.
ARC
I have not received any before, but I would love to read and review any Advanced Reading Copies from publishers or independent authors.
