Robin Hobb is the best character writer of all time. This really only took me 2 weeks to finish, just had a lot of stuff in the middle (wedding + honeymoon). The pace is also incredibly slow for sections in the middle, and just having everything seem to be against Fitz makes it tougher to read, but the final 200 pages are electric. It is crazy to see the difference between this and the Five Warrior Angels, which is also really good character work, but these are more people than characters. They feel so real, with flaws and dreams.
