Instead of using the word “Mind” or “Brain” or “Head” the author thought they would be creative, clever, and witty and call it a Thought Cage. I hate this I hate this I hate this. Outside this book, tt seems like some fiction authors want to make their world seem different, so they make new words for stuff we already have, but many of them are either too lazy or untalented to actually make a new word and describe its meaning to the reader, so they just change the existing word a little. The example that comes to mind is instead of the profession “Engineer”, they call them “Gineers”. The only context where this actually makes since is a story set on earth in post-apocalyptic times. If your world is not that, you can’t just change a few letters in an english word. It does not make your world seem more immersive since it has unique things it makes you sound lazy and dumb
