Continued the good stuff from the first book. Progression still felt reasonable, relationships developed naturally. Still excited to read more.

Starts with Alex continuing to take classes and grow as a wizard, has trouble with combat spells because of the mark. Alex tests out of first year mana manipulation, and then does well in all his other midterms. He has Selina talk to one of his combat peers (shiana) about fire magic to feel better, and Selina eventually decides to pursue magic. Him, Isolde, Khalik and Thundar eventually form a Cabal to work better together. Alex runs some tests on the dungeon core material and learns it is highly mana conductive, perfect for a golem core. He gets the job at Shale’s workshop, but so does Minervus. Eventually Minervus dies from the mana vampire that has been lingering around and Alex freaks out and tells Baelin about the mark and everything else. He already told Khalik. He later tells his Cabal members. Isolde is royalty ish so they visit her country lord cousin in the country side and meet some Dryads and get invited back for a ball later. The combat class kills a Xyrthank, a really big magic bird monster. Grimloch, the shark man, helps the group more and more. A feast of the dead happens (Halloween) and everyone has fun. When going to a dinner the mana vampire attacks Najyah (Khaliks eagle familiar). They corner it but it almost kills Thundar and promises to hunt Alex. They quickly track it down again and Theresa and Grimloch beat it to a pulp. Alex has a plan. Him and Selina have built a golem body and in his private lab with Baelin he made the core from the dungeon core, but he can’t power it. So he takes the vampire to a mana vent in the Barrens, overloads it, then uses a mana vacuum to drain it and store the mana and kill it. Claygon the golem is born and everyone is ok. They go to that party at Count Palazios house. The hunters the Ravener sent (end of book 1) attack the party and injure many and Alex has to use all his skill to survive. Claygon saves the day and they kill all 3 hunters. Go team. Everyone then does well on finals. We finished year 1 at Generasi.
